If you want to test your ability to control both ends of your horse independent of the other end, a tractor tire pivot is the answer. The contestant shown in the photograph was taken at the American Horsemen Challenge Association National Finals in Hutchinson, KS. The riders were expected to step their mount into the tire with the front feet first and pivot 360 degrees completing a full circle without the front feet leaving the center of the tractor tire. The rider was then to ride across the tire leaving the back feet inside and again pivot. This time the rear feet were not to leave the center area until another full revolution was completed. The challenge tests the riders control over both ends of the horse.
